GFEC is the sponsor of a countywide training program for classroom teachers aspiring to be administrators. The program has enjoyed considerable success with over 400 teachers completing the program. Approximately 20% of these individuals have secured an administrative assignment in the first two years following their academy experience.
The program focuses on the “nuts and bolts” of public school administration with program speakers drawn largely from practicing administrators in Genesee County. Graduate credit is available from the University of Michigan, Central Michigan University, and Saginaw Valley State University.
The academy is a positive affirmation of the commitment of Superintendents in the Genesee Intermediate School District to address its shrinking pool of quality candidates for administrative assignments in our area and statewide by hiring “within”.
