GISD will still process fingerprints for the criminal records check and maintain the applications on the Michigan Department of Education’s Substitute Teacher website.

Here are some FAQs that may address some of your questions.  Additional information is available on the PESG website: www.contractsubs.com

What is PESG?
Professional Educational Services Group (PESG) is the largest educational market contracting entity in the State of Michigan.

What will change for substitute teachers employed by PESG?
If you substitute teach in any of the PESG participating districts, you will no longer receive a paycheck from the school districts.  You will be employed by PESG and receive your paycheck from them – every 2 weeks.  For example, if you work in 4 districts as a PESG employee, you will receive 1 paycheck from PESG instead of 4 paychecks.  The option to purchase benefits will also be available.

How will I receive and accept jobs?
You will use a new system called Aesop to receive and accept substitute teaching jobs.  Training on this system will be provided.

Can I be employed by PESG and also by the districts that are not contracting with PESG for substitute teachers?
Yes.  The GISD will continue to process the criminal history checks and enter substitute teacher permits on the MI Dept of Education website for substitute teachers employed by a school district or PESG.

How do I become employed by PESG?
PESG has scheduled the following enrollment and orientation sessions at:
