The GCAPS is a consortium of Genesee County area school districts dedicated to the recruitment, selection, employment and professional growth of quality educators. When you submit your application, it will be entered into the GCAPS database. It will be made available to all districts in the Consortium. Through the submission of a single application, you will have actually applied to all member districts. What districts are in the Consortium? Atherton, Beecher, Bendle, Bentley, Carman-Ainsworth, Clio, Davison, Fenton, Flint, Flushing, Genesee ISD, Genesee, Goodrich, Grand Blanc, Kearsley, Lake Fenton, LakeVille, Lapeer, Linden, Montrose, Mt. Morris, Swartz Creek, Westwood Heights. Is there a fee to apply with the Consortium? How long does my application stay on file? There is no fee to apply to the consortium. Your application will stay active for one year from the date of application or your most recent modification. How do I apply to the Consortium? Submit your application via the online process. When you submit your online application to the consortium, you should also upload supporting documents including your resume, teaching certificate, college transcripts, letters of reference, teaching credentials, etc. Your resume and supporting documentation should not exceed 12 pages. Can I apply to individual district postings? Yes, you have the opportunity to apply directly to individual district postings. This can be accomplished by clicking on the posting button of the desired position to electronically link your completed application to the posting. You need to complete the application only once. However, you must link each time a position is open. Will someone from the GCAPS contact me? You will receive an e-mail confirming receipt of your application. The GCAPS staff will not contact you by phone regarding your status. If you are considered for a position by one of the member districts then that district will contact you. How do I revise my application that is already in the system? Beginning April 3, 2006, the GCAPS will be using a new application software provider. You can revise or update your application multiple times per year by logging in to the system and making any necessary changes. It is important for your application to be up to date at all times. Please be sure we always have your correct mailing address, email address and telephone number(s). Equally important are name changes, additional degrees, new employers, etc. Will I be notified of open positions within the consortium? As in the past, the consortium will not notify you if there is an open position for which you qualify. However, the new software database requires you to actively apply for desired posting by linking your application to individual district postings listed on the website. To ensure your application is considered for desired positions and districts, please visit the website frequently. You need to complete the application only once. However, you must link your application to any posting for which you wish to be considered. For information on open positions in consortium districts, please access the online application area.
