General Information

GISD’s Human Resources and Operations staff are responsible for management of all personnel-related functions for the intermediate school district and for providing ongoing service to employees of the district and constituent districts in the areas of hiring, job descriptions, pre-employment testing, criminal history records, orientation, personnel file management, fringe benefit programs, evaluations, professional development and tuition reimbursement. Staff ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding employment. They assist with the processing of personnel/human resources reports including, but not limited to, work-related injuries and professional development. They provide expertise to district administrators in areas such as hiring, school legislation, contract language and policy interpretation, and corrective discipline. Additionally, they facilitate the substitute hiring process for GISD. Human Resources and Operations staff also coordinate the Win-Win negotiations model that has been adopted by the board of education and respective bargaining units.

Human Resources and Operations staff work with local school district personnel and coordinate activities related to negotiations, school legislation, staff development and training. They serve as system administrators for the Genesee County Area Public School Districts Online Employment Application Consortium, providing technical support and facilitating user group meetings. The common school calendar format is also coordinated with local school districts by Human Resources and Operations staff with the assistance of several other departments within GISD.

Human Resources and Operations staff are responsible for providing and coordinating custodial/maintenance services between district facilities and assisting building/program administrators with the implementation of capital improvement projects. Staff also work with district administrators to facilitate the Teaching, Learning and Service Plan objectives related to the implementation of a comprehensive district facilities study and energy audit for the development of a long-range energy management plan for the district.
