Mott Middle College
Program Purpose
Mott Middle College (MMC) is a middle college/high school for at-risk youth in Genesee County and districts geographically adjacent to Genesee County. It is located on the campus of Mott Community College. The program is designed to provide "intensive care education" to students with academic potential, but are:
  • Achieving well below their potential
  • At risk of dropping out before high school graduation
  • Under-represented in higher education

A Fresh Start
MMC offers a fresh start to students who desire to transfer their academic and co-curricular program to the middle college/high school. Students in grades 9-11 are accepted in both fall and winter semesters. MMC was also redesigned into a five-year early college program during the 2003-2004 school year.

MMC Academics
Mott Middle College:
  • Encourages career preparation through required work internships, volunteer opportunities, and work shadowing
  • Expects dual enrollment in high school and college classes 
  • Focuses instruction on individual students' needs 
  • Takes learning off-site for field trips, community-based instruction opportunities, and community service 
  • Offers continual career and college counseling to help students achieve a successful future
