MCIC Library Mural Ribbon Cutting

Over the past few years, the library at Marion Crouse Instructional Center has undergone a remarkable transformation. Upgrades began with the purchase of new bookshelves, tables, chairs, and a refreshed book collection. This revitalization sparked an exciting new project—a collaborative mural that brings art and literature together.

Integrated Arts teacher Hannah Wilcox partnered with Powers High School seniors as part of their Capstone Project to bring the mural to life. After presenting the idea at the Capstone Project Fair, three enthusiastic students joined the initiative.

The students and staff worked together on key tasks:

  • Identifying 10 book genres for the mural.
  • Reading and engaging with students about the books.
  • Organizing genre connections for the mural.
  • Preparing, drawing, and painting book cover designs directly in the library.

The project kicked off in August 2024, blending creativity, education, and community involvement. On January 14, 2025, the MCIC community gathered to celebrate the mural’s completion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The event highlighted the dedication and creativity of everyone involved, with the mural standing as a vibrant symbol of collaboration and the magic of storytelling.
