FLINT– While
the Governor has ordered that all K-12 school buildings remain closed for the
next few weeks to help reduce the spread of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19),
the Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD), and school districts throughout
the county, are working to make sure that Genesee County students who need and
rely on meals provided at school will not go hungry. School leaders have put
plans in place effective Monday, March 16, for meals to be distributed at
several locations throughout the county.
Find the meal distribution schedule for students in GISD
programs, as well as each district in the county, on the GISD website at www.geneseeisd.org
within the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information and Resources section. Schools will continue distributing
meals until further notice. The meals are available for all children free of
charge.
The GISD
continues to work with Genesee County school leaders to provide updates and
information as we follow the guidelines and recommendations of Governor
Whitmer, the Genesee County Health Department (GCHD), Michigan Department of
Health and Human Services (MDHHS), and the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) regarding the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. We will
continue to provide more information as it becomes available.
