GENESEE ISD ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF
2ND INVESTOR PITCH COMPETITION
FLINT – The Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) is excited to announce and congratulate the winners of its second Investor Pitch Competition. The event, which was held virtually, was a huge success with over 105 students from 16 local high schools submitting video pitches for consideration earlier this month.
In their video pitches, students were challenged to share why their business idea deserved a cash prize which could be used as start-up money to help make their business idea a reality. The pitches received were based on a wide range of categories including environmental, technology, food, sports, app development, travel, health, and even COVID-19. High schools throughout Genesee County each ran their competitions where judges voted to determine the top two winners which were awarded $100 for 1st place and $50 for 2nd place.
Districts then submitted their top two video pitches to compete in the final round for even bigger prizes. The first place winner received $750. The second place winner received $650, $550 went to the third place winner, $450 was awarded for fourth place, and $350 for fifth place. Local entrepreneurs stepped in to judge the 30 finalists, and they determined the following top five winners:
