School of Choice

Introduction

School of Choice programs offer parents and students from Genesee and surrounding counties the opportunity to enroll in a school outside their resident district. This program is designed to provide another academic option in addition to the quality K-12 programs that already exist in local districts.

Programs

There are two different programs in the State School Aid Act for Schools of Choice, Section 105 and Section 105c. Section 105 allows a school district in Genesee County to accept students from another school district in Genesee County without a release. Section 105c allows a school district in Genesee County to accept students from another school district in a county that is contiguous to Genesee County (contiguous counties to Genesee are Lapeer, Livingston, Oakland, Saginaw, Shiawassee and Tuscola).

The school districts listed in the attachment below will accept applications for School of Choice for the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year. Applications are completed and submitted to your choice district. For more information, please visit your choice district's website or call the district directly using the contact list attached. Visit this site frequently for updates.
