Application Requirements

The GC CTE Early Middle College Application is NOW OPEN!

Applications to the Genesee County Career & Technical Education Early Middle College (EMC) for the 2026–2027 school year will open in January 2026 and are available to current 10th grade students only.

To apply, students must complete an online application, which includes:

  • An essay.  Choose Google Document, PowerPoint presentation, or a video recording.

  • The names and email addresses of:

    • Your high school counselor

    • Your current math teacher

    • Your current English teacher

Your counselor and teachers will be contacted directly to complete a recommendation form on your behalf.

Interview Process

All applicants are required to participate in a student and parent/guardian interview with the GC CTE Early Middle College (EMC) team.

There is nothing to prepare in advance for the interview. This is a relaxed, supportive conversation designed to:

  • Get to know the student

  • Discuss goals, interests, and learning experiences

  • Answer questions about the EMC program and expectations

The link to schedule your interview will be provided within the online application once it is submitted.  Interview deadline is March 20, 2026.
