About the Program

Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) is a state and federally funded employment and training program. The Genesee Intermediate School District JMG program offers training in Career Readiness, Life Skills, and Leadership, along with work experience opportunities to help students develop occupational skills, positive work habits, and attainable occupational goals.

Opportunities for Students

The Genesee Intermediate School District offers a four-week program in July and opportunities throughout the school year to gain work experience and further training. Students are paid to attend training. Participants are recommended by their local districts, and should meet the following criteria:

  • Desire to work

  • Current IEP or 504

  • 16-21 years old

  • 1-2 years away from graduating high school with a diploma

  • Able to work independently once trained

  • Good citizenship

Recommendation forms are given to the districts in January and are due before Spring Break in March. Accepted students will be notified in April.
