General Labor and Construction - LiUnA Training MI School to Work Program
Applications are open for the Summer '24 session
for 2024 Graduating Seniors

The LTM Pathways to Apprenticeship - School to Work Program is provided in partnership with the LIUNA Training Michigan (LTM) and the Laborers' International Union of North America (LiUNA). This program allows recent high school grads to earn hours and experience toward future union apprenticeship opportunities based solely upon a collaborative system; which includes local education/districts, local labor unions, signatory contractors and workforce development partners.

The summer program is limited in class size and is offered for 8 weeks between June and August. Students receive the Related Training Instruction (RTI) for 4 weeks at LTM in Perry, MI, in combination with 4 weeks of "On the Job Training" (OJT) with dedicated industry contractors based on current job availability. Students who are not immediately placed in a job may continue with additional paid training.

Students are engaged for 8 hours a day during both RTI and OJT segments. During this time, students also receive compensation, including a mileage stipend of $60 a day during the Related Training Instruction (based on distance from home to LTM Training Center) and $15 per hour plus union benefits (valued at $20-$25/hour) during the On the Job Training. Students must agree to participate in the program orientation and interview process, as well as complete the full 8-week program. Students must be available for the full 8 weeks and not able to attend sports practice or other non-emergency events during work time. Students must have reliable transportation available. Students must also pass a drug screening. Spots are limited.
