GISD is pleased to recognize Kimberly Dehmel, Youth Entrepreneurship Coordinator in Education and Learning, as a recipient of the STAR Award for her exceptional leadership and longstanding commitment to advancing youth entrepreneurship across Genesee County. For more than a decade, she has helped build and sustain a comprehensive program that gives students hands-on opportunities to explore entrepreneurship while developing coaches and strengthening partnerships with regional business and industry leaders.

Through workshops, live selling events, makerspace experiences and pitch ideation sessions, Kimberly gives students opportunities to develop entrepreneurial skills and turn ideas into action. She also leads professional development for coaches and works with regional partners to ensure the program continues to evolve with industry needs.

Her commitment often extends well beyond the school day. From late-evening Zoom sessions for reviews, coaching meetings and pitch competitions to countywide events for students, families and staff, Kimberly brings energy, creativity and collaboration to her work.

Kimberly leads by listening, collaborating and supporting those around her. She actively seeks input from students and coaches, provides support in the classroom and at community events, and continually looks for ways to strengthen the experience for young entrepreneurs.

Congratulations to Kimberly on this outstanding achievement!
