Hannah Johnson

Meet Hannah Johnson, Genesee Opportunity and Career Connection Specialist. Hannah joined the Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) because of its strong reputation for supporting students and the broader community. Seeing the many initiatives that provide meaningful support and real-world experience for students confirmed this was the right place for her to grow, contribute, and make a lasting impact. Those values are exactly why Hannah is being recognized as the next Face of GISD.

For the past four years, Hannah has worked with Genesee Opportunity (GO), collaborating closely with students, educators, and community partners to support career readiness initiatives and the GO stipend program. Through this work, she has built a strong foundation in student engagement, program coordination, and guiding students through postsecondary and career pathways. Prior to joining GISD, Hannah worked in college admissions and collegiate event planning, where she developed strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.

In her role as a Career Connection Specialist, Hannah supports students in using the Genesee Opportunity stipend and regularly visits school districts across Genesee County to share information with students, families, and educators. Most recently, she helped develop the Career Connection Center, which provides students with one-on-one support as they explore postsecondary options and plan their next steps. What Hannah enjoys most is working directly with students and educators, helping students feel confident and prepared as they transition into college, training programs, or career pathways. She finds it especially rewarding to see students light up when they discover opportunities they didn’t realize were available to them. Her goal is to simplify the often-overwhelming world of post-secondary options and help students feel excited about their futures.

Outside of work, Hannah enjoys spending time up north on Houghton Lake soaking up days and evenings on the pontoon with her husband and daughter. She also loves baking and experimenting with new recipes.

Hannah is grateful to be part of the GISD community and values the collaboration and support among staff, students, and families. She looks forward to continuing to grow in her role and contributing in ways that positively impact students and Genesee County. She also encourages all Genesee County seniors to apply for the GO stipend and invites students and families to reach out with any questions.
