Annual GISD Day of Giving

GISD Day of Giving a Success!
Posted on 06/06/2023
GISD Day of Giving. Thousands of intentional acts of kindness.

After months of planning, GISD staff went out into the community to perform thousands of acts of kindness for unsuspecting people across Genesee County. We want to thank all of our employees and community partners who donated items and money to make this year’s Day of Giving a success.

“When we began the Day of Giving, our goal was simple - make a positive impact throughout the community we serve,” said Dr. Steven Tunnicliff, Superintendent of GISD. “That goal remains the same, and thanks to the generosity of our own employees and community partners, the day continues to grow each year. It’s nice to be able to do something kind for someone else and put smiles on people’s faces.”

GISD employees performed 2,781 acts of kindness. Dozens of different projects were planned to positively impact a variety of people across Genesee County, including a luncheon for the officers at the Genesee County Jail, gift bags for Mott Children’s Center staff, gifts for 102 resident doctors at Hurley, needed supplies donated to Ele’s Place, outdoor cleanup at the Shelter of Flint, and the Miracle League, teacher lunchroom makeovers at Bentley, Dailey and Atherton schools, gas card giveaways, and so much more.

GISD Day of Giving efforts are meant to show kindness to others throughout the community and inspire community members to do more of the same. The hope is that GISD’s intentional acts of kindness will create positive vibes for others to pay it forward and reach as many people as possible.
