Flint, Mich – The
Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) Board of Education held its Biennial Election Monday, June 3, 2019. Three seats on the five member board were available due to term expirations.
Longtime GISD Board of Education member, Larry Ford, was re-elected to another six-year term. Ford’s leadership with GISD began when he was elected to the board in 1977.
James
Avery was elected to his first six-year term. Avery was appointed to
the GISD Board in May to serve the remaining term of the seat vacated by
Cindy Gansen who relocated out of state. Avery has worked in education
as a teacher, administrator, and board member. He is currently employed
by the Flint and Genesee Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Grand Blanc Board of Education.
The Honorable John Conover, retired Genesee County District Judge, was elected to serve a partial term of two years to fill the vacancy created last year by the resignation of Dale Green.
GISD’s
Biennial Election is coordinated by the Genesee County Clerk. Members
are elected to the GISD Board of Education by the 21 local school boards
in Genesee County.
