What does the Preamble of the US Constitution mean to you?	Take a moment and reflect on what the Preamble says. Do you recall the details? Watch and listen to high school students reflect on the promise of the Preamble. Assess how well our federal government is fulfilling those promises.

Article 1 of the U.S. Constitution explains the power of the legislative branch (Congress) and its role of representing "We the People." As a citizen of the United States you should be able to identify your Representative and Senators and know their contact information. Follow the steps on the right to identify your representatives.	Locate your complete zip code. Enter you complete zip code in the upper right-hand corner of the US House of Representatives page and click "go." Once the page loads, click on the name of your representative to enter their official government website and learn about what they are doing for you. In the upper right-hand corner of them US Senate webpage select Michigan and click on "go" to find our Senators. Click on each Senator's name to enter to their official government website and see what they are doing for you.
Article 1 Section 7 of the U.S. Constitution explains how the legislative branch is to pass bills into law. As a U.S. citizen you should be able to locate and download copies of legislation. Follow the steps to the right to learn how to locate and download legislation.	Current legislation can be searched using the Thomas section of the Library of Congress website. Search for legislation by keyword or by the bill number. For example, if you search for "transportation" you will find 100s of items; however, if you search "HR 1000" you will find only one. Here you can also search for Senate bills which start with "S". Another way to acquire access to Senate bills is through the US Senate webpage. In the menu bar click on Legislation and Records.
