K-12 Support Services

For students impacted by the Flint Water Emergency

Serving Students and Schools

The Genesee Intermediate School District K-12 Support Services team works with General Education students who have been impacted by the Flint Water Emergency and attend a Genesee County school district or public school academy.

Available Services

  • Behavioral: Provides coaching to help develop positive behavioral interventions and supports using tiered interventions with students.
  • Instructional: Provides academic interventions to students and consultation to classroom staff in areas such as instructional methods, evaluations, classroom processes, and procedures.
  • Nursing: Develops and trains staff on student-specific emergency action plans. Reviews and implements medication protocols. Advocates for students with their healthcare providers.
  • Occupational Therapy: Collaborates with educators to assess fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, oral-motor, feeding skills, and handwriting techniques to provide educationally related interventions and consultative services.
  • Psychologist: Provides building and district-wide support for MTSS and tiered interventions as well as positive behavioral interventions for individual students. 

The K-12 Support Services team also provides financial support for expanded programming, such as after-school and/or summer programs, including transportation costs for qualifying attendees.
