Genesee County Career & College Access Network

Support for Career and College Planning

GCCCAN logoThe Genesee County Career and College Access Network (GCCCAN) is supported by the Greater Flint Educational Consortium (GFEC), the Michigan College Access Network (MCAN), and the Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD). It is a network made up of K-12 schools, higher education institutions, nonprofits, government entities, businesses, and workforce development organizations. Together, the network supports the attainment of a postsecondary credential beyond a high school diploma for Genesee County students. Learn more about GCCCAN and its services here.

Why it Matters

College and career credential completion is important because more than 75% of future jobs will require education beyond high school. In Michigan, 44.9% of adults have an associate degree or higher, compared to 35.5% in Genesee County. Among the Class of 2023, college enrollment rates were similar — 58.7% statewide and 58.4% in Genesee County.

A priority of GCCCAN is to support Genesee County educators and students by providing essential information and resources related to career and college planning.
