Automotive Repair Course

Auto mechanic checking out a carAbout this Course

In years gone by, a self-taught mechanic may have had all the qualifications for a job at the local dealership, but no more. Employers are seeking people with backgrounds in electronics and computers, as well as skills like communications, math, and problem-solving. The Automotive Technology (AT) classes are designed to address this situation with more than technical training; it is a partnership with dealerships, schools, and students.

The AT classes will teach both "head skills" and "hand skills" through instruction on late model automobiles, high-tech equipment, classroom presentations, and opportunities for job shadowing. Instructors hold Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and state certifications.

This course will teach you about:

  • ASE/NATEF Maintenance and Light Repair
  • NATEF/MLR Standards
  • Brakes
  • Steering and Suspension
  • Electrical
  • Engine Performance
  • Engine Repair
  • Automatic Transmission
  • Manual Transmission
  • Air Conditioning
