Schools of Choice

Introduction

Schools of Choice programs offer parents and students from Genesee and surrounding counties the opportunity to enroll in a school outside their resident district. This program is designed to provide another academic option in addition to the quality K-12 programs that already exist in local districts.

Programs

There are two different programs in the State School Aid Act for Schools of Choice, Section 105 and Section 105c. Section 105 allows a school district in Genesee ISD to accept students from another school district in Genesee ISD without a release. Section 105c allows a school district in Genesee ISD to accept students from another school district in an ISD that is contiguous to Genesee ISD (contiguous ISDs to Genesee ISD are Lapeer ISD, Livingston ESA, Oakland Schools, Saginaw ISD, Shiawassee RESD and Tuscola ISD).

The school districts listed in the attachment below will accept applications for Schools of Choice for the first semester of the 2017-2018 school year. Applications are completed and submitted to your choice district. For more information please visit your choice district's website or call the district's contact listed on the attachment. Visit this site frequently for updates.
