Administrative Leadership Academy

GFEC is the sponsor of a countywide training program for classroom teachers aspiring to be administrators. The program has enjoyed considerable success with over 400 teachers completing the program. Approximately 20% of these individuals have secured an administrative assignment in the first two years following their academy experience.

The program focuses on the "nuts and bolts" of public school administration with program speakers drawn largely from practicing administrators in Genesee County. Graduate credit is applied for from Central Michigan University each year. Once approved, participants are to enroll and pay tuition fee directly to the institution.

The academy is a positive affirmation of the commitment of Superintendents in the Genesee Intermediate School District to address its shrinking pool of quality candidates for administrative assignments in our area and statewide by hiring "within".

Each cohort begins in October and runs through August. The 2021-2022 is currently underway.
Registration is available for the 2022-2023 cohort.
