FLINT – Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) is pleased to announce a new HVAC program at the Genesee Career Institute (GCI), through a partnership with Mott Community College (MCC) for the 2023-24 school year. The program will provide students with hands-on training and a pathway to a rewarding career in the field of HVAC.

GCI, a leading provider of career technical education, along with MCC has developed this new college-level program for Genesee County juniors and seniors. Classes will be held at MCC three days per week during GCI’s third session. Enrollment is now available; however, space is limited. Interested juniors and seniors will need to sign up through their local school counselors. Each local school district will receive two available seats in the program.

"We are excited to offer this opportunity to students who are interested in pursuing a career in HVAC," said Julie Lublin, Genesee Career Institute Principal. "We have received a lot of interest from parents and students through Facebook and we are looking forward to meeting with them to provide more information about the program."

Employment of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers is projected to grow five percent from 2021 to 2031, faster than the average for all occupations with a median salary of $46,500 in Michigan.
