How to Apply
Start by going to the Federal Student Aid website or download the free myStudentAid app for iOS or Android.
To complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form, the following information is needed:
- A Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID.
- The FSA ID is a username and password that gives you access to Federal Student Aid’s online systems and can serve as your legal signature.
- Create a FSA ID
- Your Social Security number.
- Your federal income tax returns and W-2s.
- Your bank statements/investment records (if applicable).

You can complete your FAFSA between October 1 and June 30, but many states and colleges have earlier deadlines. Be sure to apply before your state and college deadlines. Find Michigan’s FAFSA deadline.

Michigan Student Aid
Students and parents can visit the MI Student Aid website to find applications and other resources for Michigan’s student aid programs, including the Tuition Incentive Program. Additional resources and links to available state and national scholarships and ways to help make college affordable are also available.

Genesee Opportunity Stipend
The Genesee Opportunity (GO) stipend provides Genesee County high school graduates with money for college, career training, or certification licensing fees. To be eligible, you must reside in Genesee County, Michigan or on a property that is taxed by a Genesee County school district and be a graduate from a high school in Genesee County.
